Dirty Pretty Things is a book of poetry, prose, and short stories by Michael Faudet. He focuses heavily on themes of love, loss, relationships, and sex and his writing is, simply, beautifully executed.
I first stumbled across his work on Tumblr and quickly became a fan of his whimsical, yet erotic, writing. This book is long-awaited for by many of his fans and followers and it definitely was everything I hoped for and more. For anyone who has enjoyed 50 Shades of Grey or any Harlequin romance novel, Dirty Pretty Things will be right up your alley. While not for the faint of heart, this book engages all the senses and is something I proudly add to my book collection.
Faudet is very detailed and brutally honest in his writing which I love. He writes everything we have thought, although not admitted, and eloquently pens it to paper. He paints vivid pictures for his readers and leaves you compelled to keep reading, while also making you feel like you are about to get caught reading the most intimate pages of someones journal. At times, some pages have even left me blushing, while others left me deep in thought and reflection. It’s the perfect balance of sultry and sophistication and is everything that I love. This book traps you with its sexiness, and then devourers you with its charm.
